After an eight-day jury trial, Jonathan Berns obtained a verdict in favor of a former Assistant Professor at Saint Louis University who alleged that she was denied a promotion and tenure because of her gender and because of a prior complaint of unequal treatment. A jury awarded the plaintiff $167,000 for lost wages and emotional distress and $200,000 for punitive damages.
